More information about WD-40

WD-40 is a company that was founded more than 60 years ago by three chemical engineers led by Norm Larsen with the original name of Rocket Chemical Company. Its intention was to manufacture a degreaser and solvent against corrosion in applications in the aerospace industry. In the search for a product that displaced water and protected from corrosion in NASA-launched rockets, it was not until attempt 40 that they found the formula that has survived to this day. Hence its name, Water Displacer 40.

In the late 1960s, the Rocket Chemical Company changed its name to its star product. The WD-40 became famous because the same factory personnel were finding diverse applications through domestic uses. Larsen sensed that distributed through an aerosol spray, the applications would be much larger and would reach all types of users.
Its formula today is the same as that of its origins and more than 2000 different uses of this product have been documented.
Lately it is producing more specific formulas for more professional applications.
